Church teacher held under Pocso Act
Kanyakumari: A 55-year-old church teacher was arrested under Pocso Act near Colachel in Kanyakumari district on Monday for allegedly sexually harassing a 12-year-old boy who attended Sunday Bible classes. Police said the accused, Roslin Vedhakannan, a resident of Palapallam, had been conducting Bible classes for schoolchildren at a church in the locality every Sunday. On being questioned, the boy told his father that the church teacher had subjected him to inappropriate sexual conduct. The Class VII student who had been regularly attending the classes recently stopped going. The boy’s father lodged a complaint with Colachel All Women Police Station. Following an inquiry, police registered a case against the teacher under sections of Pocso Act, and arrested him. Download the TOI App.
