Man dies after jumping from hospital fourth floor fearing arrest
When she refused, he assaulted her, following which she went to stay with her younger son Muneeswaran, 29, at Palankottai near Devipattinam.
Police said Krishnan, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had demanded money from his mother Lakshmi to buy liquor. Police identified the deceased as Krishnan, a resident of Anna Nagar at Keelanagachi near Uchipuli in Ramanathapuram district. On learning about the incident, Muneeswaran accompanied his mother to Krishnan’s house and questioned him over the assault. An argument broke out between the brothers and escalated into a fight. Krishnan took a knife used for skinning goats from the house and stabbed Muneeswaran multiple times. Police were preparing to initiate action to arrest him after his treatment. He sustained grievous injuries and was admitted for treatment.
After learning that police were planning to arrest him, Krishnan jumped from the fourth floor of the hospital around 7pm on Sunday.
Muneeswaran, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. Uchipuli police registered a case against Krishnan and were searching for him. Police have registered a case in connection with his death. Further investigation is under way.
