Mangaluru: The women and child development department will soon set up a full-fledged childcare centre at Praja Soudha, the office of the Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner at Padil.
Though a centre was opened earlier at Praja Soudha, it was not made fully functional due to the non-appointment of staff.
Officials said that the proposal to develop a new creche with all facilities and appoint required staff has already been discussed at a meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office. Officials of the women and child development department said that approval has also been received to open a childcare centre at Praja Soudha building for the convenience of women staff who have children. Additional DC K Raju said that the women and child development department will identify a suitable space to develop a full-fledged childcare centre in Praja Soudha. We told them to inspect and identify which space would be sufficient for their needs, and then we would decide. The childcare centre will have all facilities for our staff who have children,” he said.
“We have already set up one model facility in the same building. Now another proposal has come in with the deputy director of women and child development department requesting a room.
