Kanpur : A 20-year-old woman died after allegedly jumping from the second floor of her house in Mardanpur following a family dispute during celebrations marking her third wedding anniversary. Her 14-month-old daughter, whom she allegedly threw from the building moments earlier, survived after being caught by her husband.
Roshni’s husband, Noor Alam, a tailor, celebrated their wedding anniversary on Oct 7 with family members. After primary treatment, Roshni was referred to LLR Hospital on Oct 9.
Gujaini SHO Rajan Sharma said they have not received any written complaint from the family yet. Later that night, Noor Alam and Ishrat argued over an unspecified issue. Roshni then went to the second floor with her daughter. Family members alleged that Roshni first threw her daughter from the second floor. Noor Alam, who was standing below, caught the child in his arms. Before he could comprehend what had happened, Roshni jumped from the building. Family members took both to a private hospital, where the child was declared out of danger. Further action would be taken on the basis on autopsy report, he added.
