Action against drunk driving by Nashik RTO
Nashik : Regional Transport Office (RTO), in coordination with city traffic police, has intensified its weekend crackdown on drunk driving, leading to the conviction of 40 motorists in cases proven before Motor Vehicles Court.
Officials said offenders are being prosecuted and produced before the court, which has been taking a stern view of violations. Transport officials said the campaign is being carried out jointly by RTO and local traffic police under the guidance of RTO Pradeep Shinde and assistant regional transport officer Sachin Bodhle. Many residents said roadside liquor outlets witness heavy crowds during evening hours, raising concerns about the number of motorists who may be driving after drinking.
The enforcement drive, conducted every Saturday and Sunday, targets motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol. With convictions rising, the court has asked enforcement agencies to strengthen the drive further and maintain strict checks against drunk driving. They called for RTO and police to further intensify enforcement to improve road safety .
