Ahmedabad: A 38-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat by his estranged brother-in-law following an argument over a video call with the latter’s eight-year-old daughter.
The victim, who works on a contract with AMC’s demolition department, was admitted to Asarwa Civil Hospital with injuries to his head, shoulder, and back. He filed a complaint with Ranip police on Monday.
The victim’s sister and her estranged husband have an eight-year-old daughter, according to the complaint. The complainant alleged that the man was a drinker and had been assaulting and harassing his wife over petty issues for the past four years. The woman had left her husband around three years ago and moved to her parental home with their daughter. She had also filed for divorce, but her husband had not attended court hearings, the complaint stated. Around three to four months ago, she began living with another man, leaving her daughter with her parents.
