Food Licence Suspended for Quick Commerce Store in Gandhinagar
Ahmedabad: A quick commerce store in Raysan, Gandhinagar, had its food licence suspended following health inspections conducted by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s health and food safety department on Thursday. The inspections were prompted by a complaint and revealed significant issues regarding sanitation and hygiene at the store.
As a result of the findings, the inspection team issued an improvement notice alongside the suspension of the store’s food licence. In addition to the quick commerce store, inspections were also carried out at 14 hostel canteens across various educational institutions in Gandhinagar, including those at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT), and the National Institute of Design (NID).
S A Od, designated officer, GMC’s food safety department, stated, “The store in Raysan was filthy. There were cobwebs on the walls. Food items meant for delivery to customers were kept on dirty racks. The store’s food licence was immediately suspended, and the outlet closed down. If no improvement is observed, strict legal action, including permanent cancellation of the licence, will follow. He added: “The canteens inspected include the ones at Youth Hostel (Geeta Residency), GIDM, the canteen at Saurashtra Kadva Patidar Samaj Hostel, canteens at EDI in Bhat, Adarsh Nivasi Shala, NID Gandhinagar, Utkarsh Hostel and Annapurna Dham hostel, the IAR canteen, Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya canteen, NIFT campus canteen and the one on DAIICT campus. Youth Hostel was issued an improvement notice for its poor sanitation and hygiene conditions. Thirty-four food samples have been sent for analysis.
