Ahmedabad: A total of 75,992 candidates will appear for the Teacher Aptitude Test (Secondary)–2026 main exam organised by State Examination Board on Sunday. The descriptive exam will be conducted at 403 centres across Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara.
The candidates had qualified through the preliminary exam held on May 3, for which 2,10,580 candidates had registered and 1,85,030 appeared. The preliminary results, declared on July 4, made around 75,980 candidates eligible for the main exam.
Paper 1 on Language Proficiency carries 100 marks and will be held from 10.30am to 1pm. Paper 2 on Subject Content and Pedagogy, also carrying 100 marks, will be conducted from 3pm to 6pm and will test candidates on their selected subject and its teaching methodology. The exam will cover 16 subjects, with 74,130 candidates appearing for nine subjects in Gujarati medium and 1,852 candidates for seven subjects in English medium. All 403 centres have been equipped with CCTV cameras, while a paper tracking system (PATA) will be used to ensure question-paper security.
The main exam will be conducted in two sessions. It will include essay writing, precis writing, letter writing, discussion writing and grammar. The board has made special security arrangements. District-level observers appointed by collectors and flying squads of the board will supervise the exam.
