The ministry has identified 101 indicators under the PGI framework to assess the quality and status of school education. Gujarat has been focusing on 23 priority indicators, including Indicator 6.2, which relates to career guidance for students. The first session, covering courses offered by Kaushalya-The Skill University, was telecast on Oct 1 and repeated at multiple intervals during the day, according to the schedule issued to district education officers.

Ahmedabad : Gujarat education department has launched a special training programme to help secondary and higher secondary school teachers provide informed career guidance to students. The initiative has been introduced to improve the state’s performance under the ministry of education’s Performance Grading Index (PGI). The new training programme has been linked to this indicator.

Teachers will receive information on diploma engineering programmes and courses offered by Kamdhenu University on Oct 6. Sessions on programmes offered by agricultural universities and ITI courses are scheduled for Oct 7 and Oct 8, respectively. The education department has directed district education officers to circulate the schedule among schools under their jurisdiction and ensure teacher participation. Teachers have been asked to watch the programmes through BISAG and use the information to guide students on education and career opportunities.
