Ahmedabad: CBI registered a case against two persons associated with Nobel Ayurvedic College, Junagadh, for allegedly offering a Rs 10 lakh bribe to Dr Rupali R Mahadik, member of a National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) hearing committee. The case was registered by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Delhi, on Aug 22 following a complaint by Mahadik, principal of Prabuddh Ayurvedic Medical College, Lucknow, who had been assigned by NCISM to verify 13 teachers of Nobel Ayurvedic College. Mahadik received a WhatsApp call on Aug 18 from Dr Abhay Nalawade, a faculty member of the Junagadh college, who allegedly offered her a bribe in return for giving a positive report on the 13 teachers, according to the complaint. The complaint stated that Nalawade made several WhatsApp calls to Mahadik on Aug 19 and repeated the offer. On Aug 20, during another call, Pratik Mori, trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College, allegedly joined the conversation and offered Rs 10 lakh to clear the names of all 13 teachers.
She was allegedly advised to remain in contact with Nalawade so that evidence of the offer could be gathered. Mahadik reported the alleged offer to Dr Mukul Patel, president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine (MARBISM), NCISM.
The bribe was allegedly in exchange for a favourable report clearing 13 “ghost teachers” shown on the college rolls.
