Police said the juvenile was linked to 23 cases of theft and chain-snatching registered across Ahmedabad. Police said the juvenile returned to crime just three days after being released from custody in connection with earlier chain-snatching and vehicle theft cases.

Ahmedabad: A minor known as “Red Bull” for his alleged habit of consuming the energy drink before committing thefts was detained by the Local Crime Branch (LCB), Zone-5, with a stolen two-wheeler. The minor allegedly targeted small vegetable and fruit vendors in crowded markets, taking advantage of their distraction to steal cash bags, according to police. Police said the juvenile had a peculiar habit of drinking Red Bull energy drink, believing it boosted his energy and confidence.

He was also allegedly involved in stealing two-wheelers parked in busy market areas. He was detained on Monday but was subsequently released as he was a minor.

During questioning, police said, he revealed that the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from Odhav. Verification confirmed that a theft case was registered at Odhav police station. Acting on specific information in Amraiwadi, an LCB team intercepted the minor while he was riding a two-wheeler.
