Candle march in Narol over 10-year-old Manisha’s disappearance from open sewer

Ahmedabad: Residents of Narol held a candle march on Wednesday evening demanding justice for 10-year-old Manisha Salat, who fell into an open sewer on the Narol-Vishala highway on Oct 10. Even after 20 days, she remains untraced, with only small fragments recovered so far. He questioned how the civic body, with a budget of Rs 18,000 crore, had failed to locate a child. Soni alleged that the search operation was stopped within 10 days. Manisha fell into the sewer around 3.30pm on Oct 10, shortly after her family got off an autorickshaw.
Her mother had reportedly released her hand to pay the fare when the girl fell into the open sewer.
He also said the Congress would consider approaching the Gujarat High Court. The march began at 7pm from Narol Circle near the Hanuman temple. Manisha’s parents and family members joined a large number of residents. They demanded that the search operation be resumed and officials responsible for the incident be held accountable. Rajesh Soni, general secretary of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee and a social worker who led the march, criticised Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) over its response. Soni warned of protests outside the municipal commissioner’s and mayor’s residences if the search was not resumed and action taken against responsible officials.
