The authorities have announced the schedule for state quota: The wider industry impact

The first round of state quota counselling will be held from Oct 21 to Nov 2, while candidates allotted seats must complete admission and joining formalities by Nov 10. Ahmedabad : The authorities have announced the schedule for state quota admissions to postgraduate (PG) medical courses in Gujarat, shortly after initiating the admission process for All- India Quota seats.

A total of 6,354 PINs were distributed, of which 6,340 candidates registered. Among them, 6,305 candidates completed document verification and other required formalities. At present, Gujarat has around 3,400 PG medical seats. Nearly 700 of these fall under the All-India Quota, leaving about 2,700 seats under the state quota.

Sources in the admission committee said registration for PG medical admissions has already been completed.

However, the admission committee has now released the schedule, advancing the first-round process. The announcement comes amid uncertainty over the counselling timeline following protests after the declaration of PG medical entrance results.

Earlier, the state quota admission process was expected to commence after Diwali.

The seat matrix is expected to expand by around 400 seats this year, though authorities are yet to officially announce the college-wise increase. The second round of All-India Quota counselling is scheduled from Nov 6 to Nov 14. State quota counselling for the second round will be conducted from Nov 14 to Nov 23, with candidates required to complete joining formalities by Nov 30.
