Gandhinagar : The Gujarat govt has issued compulsory retirement orders to two Class I Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) officers amid allegations of corruption and departmental inquiries against them.
Sources in the state administration said there were allegations of corruption against the two officers and departmental inquiries into the allegations had also been ordered. The general administration department (GAD) has also stepped up follow-up with various departments on disciplinary proceedings that have been pending for a long time, sources said. The officers are D I Bhaglani, joint commissioner in the senior scale at Gujarat State Tribal Development Residential Educational Institutions Society (GSTDREIS), Gandhinagar, and J M Tuvar, managing director in the senior scale at Gujarat Safai Kamdar Development Corporation, Gandhinagar. The action comes amid what officials described as the state govt’s tougher approach towards officers allegedly involved in corrupt practices.
Earlier this month, the state govt issued compulsory retirement orders to two mid-level officers, Kankipati Rajesh and Gaurav Dahiya.
Rajesh, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been under suspension since July 2022. He was reinstated in July 2023, nearly four years after his suspension.
State govt officials said the action followed a review of the officers’ service records by the Union govt’s department of personnel and training (DoPT). He is facing corruption and money-laundering cases being investigated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate .
