A New Turn: Geetha KR of Jayanagar, Sullia, in her pink autorickshaw, which she acquired with financial aid from Sullia City Rotary Club under Rotary International District 3181’s women’s safety initiative
Sullia City Rotary Club president Ragesh Raghav said the initiative was part of Rotary District 3181’s plan to distribute pink autorickshaws in all towns under its jurisdiction. So far, 12 autos have been distributed. The Rotary Club of Mysore Metro sponsored the first 10, the Rotary Club of Mangalore Midtown sponsored the 11th for Vanitha Shamboor of Bantwal, and the Rotary Club of Sulia City sponsored the 12th.
Eight more autos are under production, Raghav said. District governor Sathish Bolar said the project is led by District Pink Auto convener Shruthi Madtha. Raghav said, “Our aim is to empower women with dignity, independence, and sustainable livelihoods.”
