Chennai: AIADMK whip Agri S S Krishnamurthy on Thursday said that party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was ready to make “any sacrifice” to safeguard the party and was open to suggestions from all leaders for the growth of AIADMK.
Senior leaders such as C Ve Shanmugam could meet Palaniswami any time and convey their views for the growth of AIADMK, Krishnamurthy told reporters in Chennai after meeting Governor R V Arlekar to submit a complaint against TVK minister K A Sengottaiyan.
On the representation submitted to Governor, Krishnamurthy said the recent statement by Sengottaiyan stating that 15 AIADMK MLAs were preparing to quit AIADMK indicated that TVK was indulging in horse-trading.
He is working vigorously to bring back Amma’s govt,” Krishnamurthy said, referring to the govt of the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The remarks from Krishnamurthy, a supporter of Palaniswami, come a day after Shanmugam said the party leadership should convene a general council and consult all party leaders for AIADMK’s revival after the bypoll defeat. “The senior minister’s statement is ample evidence that horse-trading is still going on,” he said, adding that AIADMK has sought Governor’s intervention to prevent the alleged poaching of MLAs. “I plead everyone to join hands,” she said.
