25-year-old stabbed to death in Siraspur; 4 minors apprehended

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: A birthday party dispute allegedly escalated into a revenge attack that ended in the murder of a 25-year-old man in outer north Delhi’s Siraspur, with police apprehending four minors within 12 hours of the crime.

A PCR call was received on the intervening night of Oct 23 and 24 reporting that a man had been stabbed by four to five people near Sunday Bazaar Chowk in Jeevan Park, Siraspur. They were apprehended from Siraspur within 12 hours of the incident.

During questioning, the minors allegedly told police that a dispute had erupted a couple of months ago during a birthday celebration. Police said all four minors are school dropouts and are verifying their individual roles in carrying out the crime. When police reached the spot, they found bloodstains and learnt that the injured man, a resident of Jeevan Park, had been shifted to BSA Hospital. Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the area, which showed four youths fleeing after the attack. Police relied on technical and local intelligence to identify the minors. Police also recovered two knives allegedly used in the murder. They claimed the man and his friends had entered the celebration, humiliated them and assaulted one of them. Holding a grudge, the minors allegedly planned revenge, tracked his routine, including his late-night return from work, and confronted him on the night of the murder.
