Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced the reopening of all metro stations after imposing temporary restrictions.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened the entry and exit gates of all metro stations across its network after imposing restrictions at 45 stations ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. The DMRC had earlier reduced the number of affected stations from 57 to 45 following a revised advisory. More than 7,000 people were detained across Delhi as police prevented protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar. They were later released, except for the 3 party leaders.

The curbs were imposed at the request of Delhi Police amid concerns over crowd movement towards sensitive locations. Key stations affected included Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, ITO and Kashmere Gate. The restrictions were initially scheduled to remain in place until 6pm on Saturday but were extended until 10pm amid security arrangements for the protest.
