Using a fake Russian embassy recruitment website, they used to dupe Indian job seekers

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Using a fake Russian embassy recruitment website, they used to dupe Indian job seekers with fictitious employment offers, officers said Thursday. New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested two men, including a BBA graduate, for allegedly running an international job fraud scheme.

Police identified 17 job seekers who were allegedly cheated, and detected around 50 suspected fraudulent transactions, most involving payments of around Rs 875 each. An FIR was registered at Cyber Police Station of New Delhi district on June 24 under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 319(2) (cheating by personation), 336(3) (forgery), 340(2) (forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of BNS. Investigators traced the operation to Aman Kumar (25), a resident of Vaishali in Bihar , who had travelled to UK in Dec 2025 and was allegedly running the scam from there. Aman, a BBA graduate working as a stock control analyst in Middlesbrough, was apprehended on Oct 26 this year when he visited his hometown in India, police said.

Police analysed technical records, IP logs, telecom details and financial transactions, which allegedly revealed the use of UK-based payment infrastructure.

“The case came to light after Russian embassy lodged a complaint alleging that its identity was being misused to offer fictitious employment opportunities through a website, www.embassytest.com,” police said. Police said examination of devices seized from them led to the identification of a domain-management account for the fake website, along with incriminating email accounts and recruitment-related correspondence. The second accused, Vivek Kumar , a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, was also arrested. The accused were remanded to police custody. Further probe is on to identify more victims, establish the total amount allegedly cheated, trace the beneficiaries of the transactions and ascertain whether other people were involved in the racket.
