Hyderabad: A gig worker who went to deliver a food parcel was allegedly attacked by a customer and his wife after he failed to deliver the order at their doorstep in Karkhana.
The incident took place around 5 pm on Saturday at a residence in Jyothi Nagar Colony, according to the police. The victim, Ashish Kumar , reportedly had difficulty locating the address and called the customer, Ajay Kumar , asking him to collect the parcel or cancel the order.
The complainant approached the police around 10 pm and lodged a complaint. Based on his complaint, police registered a case under Sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. This led to an argument, during which the customer allegedly told the gig worker, “You are surviving on my money. Kumar reportedly responded that he was not the customer’s employee. The customer allegedly abused him, following which the delivery worker became upset. After locating the address, he picked up an argument with the customer and threw the food packet on the corridor floor. The customer allegedly picked up the order, caught hold of the delivery worker by his collar and dragged him into the flat. Inside, the customer and his wife allegedly assaulted him.
