The New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS), launched recently: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad: The New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS), launched recently by the Telangana govt for employees, pensioners and eligible family members, has received 15,395 treatment requests worth ₹104.6 crore. The scheme has 919 empanelled hospitals, including 778 private and 141 govt facilities. It was extended to police personnel from Sept 1.

The scheme offers 1,816 inpatient treatment packages based on Central Govt Health Scheme (CGHS) rates. As of Sept 28, health cards were available to 12.5 lakh beneficiaries, of whom 7.5 lakh had downloaded them. Helpdesks have been established at 30 super-speciality hospitals to assist beneficiaries with registration, admission, treatment coordination and grievance redressal.

Officials said beneficiaries should not be denied treatment for failing to carry a health card and can instead use their employee or pensioner identification number. The packages cover treatment, medicines, diagnostic tests, consumables, implants and follow-up services. In emergencies, beneficiaries can approach the nearest empanelled hospital without prior referral, provided the required details are submitted to the trust within the stipulated time.
