Hyderabad: Telangana Commission for Backward Classes Chairman G Niranjan, along with its members, on Tuesday visited Kummera Village in Nagarkurnool district, where Ganesh and Monika, belonging to the BC community, were attacked during the Mallanna Jatara on February 19. The temple was registered with the Endowment Department, Wide No: B/1179/2018, in 2018, but due to resistance from locally dominant people, the endowment department officials were not taking interest in the arrangements for the Mallanna Jatara, the press release from the BC Commission stated, according to a press release from the BC Commission’s office.
BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said he spoke to the DGP and urged him to take stringent action against the guilty. “chief minister A Revanth Reddy said the state govt will stand by the victim’s family and will take all measures to ensure such incidents are not repeated,” Ponnam said. The team found that there seemed to be negligence on the part of the district administration, police and endowment departments in making proper arrangements. The district collector and Superintendent of Police informed them about the steps taken by the administration after the incident came to light. The Commission Chairman and members offered floral tributes at the site where the baby was buried.
