Hyderabad : A Class 10 student from Siddipet district died by suicide at a BC welfare hostel in Wargal in Siddipet district on Wednesday, shortly after being reprimanded by his teacher over incomplete homework and hours after pleading with his family to take him home.
The deceased, Ram Charan (15), was the younger son of Mallesh, a resident of Pathur village in Markook mandal. He was studying in Class 10 at a govt high school and staying at the BC welfare hostel in Wargal.
Distressed by the incident, he returned to the hostel and told the watchman, Naveen Kumar, that he no longer wanted to stay there and wished to go home. The watchman then contacted the boy’s father, Mallesh, and informed him about the situation. During the phone call, Ram Charan also spoke to his father and repeatedly requested that he be taken home. Mallesh assured his son that he would come to the hostel later in the evening and speak with him.
Ram Charan was reprimanded by his class teacher on Wednesday for not completing his homework, according to Gajwel rural circle inspector Ravi Raju.
However, before his father could arrive, Ram Charan went into his room and died by suicide. Hostel staff noticed the incident and immediately shifted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
