The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

The MLC elections are due in 2027. Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday said that the party will hold discussions with its NDA ally, Jana Sena , over the latter’s decision to field a candidate for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal graduate MLC constituency.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has already announced health department’s former director Dr G Srinivasa Rao as the party’s candidate for the graduate constituency.

Speaking to a news channel, Rao said Jana Sena was a partner of BJP and that the two parties would work with coordination and cooperation. However, he said any decision on an alliance or seat-sharing would be taken by the respective party leaderships. Rao said Jana Sena announcing its candidate was not an issue and pointed out that BJP had a history of winning the Warangal seat. He said several aspirants were also approaching BJP seeking a ticket from the constituency and that the party’s leaders were actively working at the ground level. “If Jana Sena approaches us on contesting the MLC election and alliance, we will discuss and take a decision,” Rao said.

Though the two parties are allies in the NDA, their seat-sharing arrangements in Telangana have not been clearly spelt out for the graduate MLC polls. The elections have assumed significance for the major parties, with Congress already announcing its candidates. BRS and BJP were also working on their strategies to challenge the ruling party in the graduate constituencies. The polls are being watched closely ahead of the next assembly elections, with parties seeking to consolidate their support among graduates.
