He said Hyderabad’s development had suffered due to the “negligence” of successive govts and claimed that people were increasingly looking towards the BJP for solutions to civic problems. He said a BJP victory would help ensure that the Centre’s welfare and development schemes reached people more transparently. Speaking after several educated professionals and local residents joined the BJP in Tarnaka division under the leadership of Madala Radhakrishna, Rao alleged that poor roads, inadequate infrastructure and a dysfunctional drainage system were causing hardship to residents across Greater Hyderabad. Rao expressed confidence that the BJP would win the upcoming elections to the three municipal corporations in Hyderabad with a big majority. He also claimed that educated professionals, intellectuals and ordinary citizens were increasingly joining the BJP, attracted by the governance, development and welfare initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
