Hyderabad: Telangana ’s iconic floral festival, Bathukamma, will be celebrated from Oct 10 to 18, with grand festivities planned across the state.
Chief secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday reviewed preparations with senior officials and police and directed them to make elaborate arrangements for the concluding Saddula Bathukamma celebrations on Tank Bund on Oct 18. Thousands of women carrying Bathukamma are expected to join a procession from the Martyrs’ Memorial near the Secretariat to Tank Bund from 4 pm. Traffic diversions, barricading, lighting and basic amenities will be provided for the Tank Bund celebrations, scheduled from 5 pm to 10 pm.

Jaju said a special Bathukamma logo reflecting the spirit of the festival is being designed this year and will also incorporate the Telangana Global Summit, scheduled for Dec. Hundreds of artists will showcase traditional art forms, while public representatives will attend celebrations at a special stage on Tank Bund. Officials were asked to create a festive atmosphere by installing Bathukamma displays at major junctions, illuminating key intersections and lighting up government offices across the city. With large crowds expected on Tank Bund, HMDA and GHMC officials were directed to make arrangements for immersions at the Bathukamma Ghat near Children’s Park and along Necklace Road. Bathukamma programmes will also be held at Ravindra Bharathi throughout the ten-day festival, as well as at tourism destinations and other prominent locations across Telangana. Download the TOI App.
