Bankura : Three Maoist commanders surrendered before Bengal police in Bankura on Wednesday under the state govt’s surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy, and handed over weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 and two INSAS rifles. The trio collectively face more than 75 cases, including murder and charges under the arms act, explosives act and UAPA. Police sources said Jaba and Nayantara were zonal committee members and Ramprasad a regional committee member of CPI Maoist. The surrendered Maoists have been identified as Jaba Mahato (aliases Bulu, Gori), Nayantara Sahu (aliases Mita, Jhuma) and Ramprasad Mandi (aliases Mahadev, Sachin). They were active across Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore as well as Kolhan in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district. Download the TOI App.
