A division bench of Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge and Justice Om Narayan Rai sought litigants’ opinions and is likely to hear the matter next Monday. Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday sought opinions of litigants in election petitions where electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been directed to be preserved, regarding a plea by State Election Commission over release of EVMs.

Senior advocate Sabyasachi Chatterjee, one of the counsels in the case, said: “There was a court direction to preserve all EVMs in accordance with law and ballot boxes under the election law. However, they (SEC) are saying that to proceed, they need to modify that order. Download the TOI App.
