IPL cricketer Abishek Porel has been granted bail by a Chinsurah court
The Delhi Capitals player was arrested on August 11 after the woman approached police alleging that he had established a relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later subjected her to assault and criminal intimidation. He was produced before a Chinsurah court and subsequently denied bail and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Porel spend a little over a month in jail as he was arrested in connection with complaint filed by a medical student. Police subsequently confiscated a pen drive and sent it for forensic examination.
The case had earlier reached the Calcutta high court, which directed police to arrest Porel and seize his electronic devices.
The said bail order comes after the court had earlier rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody while the case proceeded.
