Kolkata: JU vice-chancellor Chiranjib Bhattacharjee has formed an internal inquiry committee to probe the alleged unauthorised disclosure and circulation of a confidential communication between him and acting registrar Debajit Dutta. The move follows a complaint lodged by Dutta with the VC.
JU this month issued a circular terminating the tenure of more than 70 re-employed or re-engaged staff members with effect from Oct 15. Teachers and staff protested the decision, alleging that it violated Section 29 of the Jadavpur University Act, 1981.
An internal note from the VC to the acting registrar also cited the Act and stated that the earlier order would be withdrawn.
