Kolkata: The road transport and highways ministry has approved Rs 1,042.6 crore for six road infrastructure projects in Bengal, including four state highways and two major district roads. CM Suvendu Adhikari, in a post on X, expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Union minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the projects, to be taken up under the Central Road Infrastructure Funds scheme for 2026–27. Adhikari added that state govt will develop over 194 km of road network using this fund.
“Following PWD’s proposal, this sanction covers over 194 km of vital road networks across north Bengal, south Bengal and Jangalmahal region,” he wrote. “Strengthening rural and highway connectivity remains a top priority for our administration. Our state PWD will ensure timely execution and adherence to the highest quality standards for these projects, ensuring smoother journeys, improved logistics and robust economic growth for our citizens,” the CM posted.
