Kolkata: The upcoming Madhyamik and Higher Secondary (HS) board examinations in West Bengal have been delayed, state education minister Dipak Barman announced on Wednesday.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has submitted a revised schedule pushing the Madhyamik start date from Feb 2 to March 2 ending on March 16. The rescheduling follows a directive from the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India to avoid scheduling major examinations before March 1. Minister Barman stated that teachers assigned to Census duties must complete them until Feb 28, but assured that result declarations will not be delayed. There are around 11 lakh Madhyamik examinees and seven lakh Higher Secondary examinees.
The final dates will be announced once the school education department approves the revised schedule.
