The illegal structure on the roof of the Ward 39 councillor’s office is demolished by KMC
Kolkata: KMC on Monday sealed the party office of Mohammad Jasimuddin, former Trinamool councillor of Ward 39 in the Jorasanko area, and demolished an unauthorised floor above that was being used to keep party merchandise. But after May 4, once the Assembly election results were announced, we did not see him or any of his men here. The illegal structures are being given 15 days to go, failing which, the KMC stated, the civic body would step in.
The notices, signed by executive engineers of respective boroughs, were seen pasted on the walls of several unauthorised structures in central Kolkata, including B B Ganguly Street, C R Avenue, Burrabazar, Brabourne Road, Mechhua, Madan Mohan Burman Street and College Street.
The place was mostly kept locked,” said a resident. A KMC official said, “We have so far served notices on several such unauthorised offices in the area. Jasimuddin’s office is located on Madan Mohan Burman Street, a few metres from Mahatma Gandhi Metro station. Jasimuddin used to be a CPM councillor before he joined the Trinamool. “This is Jasim bhai’s party office, where he and his men would come and sit in the evening. The place was used for party work. In some cases, illegal structures have been demolished and some premises have been sealed.
