Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday announced the rollout of 112 ,an emergency response system in Bengalm from Oct 10, aimed at ensuring quicker police assistance to citizens.

“We have procured brand new 450 cars and an equal number of motorcycles. We will also roll out the helpline, 112. He added that presently, the average response time in Bengal was around 90 minutes, while in states, such as Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, it was six minutes.

Our target is to have four cars and four motorcycles at each police station for quick response,” Adhikari said. “We are working on bringing down our response time on a par with these states by integrating such vehicles with the 112 response system,” the CM said.
