Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday emphasized that the state government is actively implementing various initiatives to eliminate poverty as a barrier to education.”We are committed to providing every student the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial background,” Sarma said during the distribution of awards as part of the ’12 Days of Development’ initiative in Nagaon, as reported by PTI. The Chief Minister emphasized that the government’s student-focused schemes are designed to empower young minds and shape them into responsible citizens through education.
Sarma Advocates for Holistic Education at Awards Ceremony
At a recent awards ceremony, Assam’s Education Minister, Sarma, emphasized the significance of expanding educational horizons beyond traditional textbooks. He urged students to explore subjects that pique their interest, such as the biographies of influential figures and the rich history of Assam. This, he believes, fosters a comprehensive understanding of the world.
During the event, Sarma presented several accolades, including the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award (Scooties) under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme. He also distributed bicycles to 9th-grade students as part of the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme and awarded cash prizes to students achieving 75 percent or higher in their high school final examinations under the Anundoram Borooah Award.
