The third accused, unnamed pending legal formalities, stood guard outside the residence while Kantharaju and Manjappa carried out the attack inside, according to investigators. Venkatalakshmamma lived alone following the deaths of her husband and daughter. She owned multiple real estate assets, including four houses in Hosaguddadahalli and various land parcels across RR Nagar and nearby localities. On the day of the crime, the assailants allegedly entered her residence under the guise of an argument over property rights. The confrontation escalated, leading the suspects to assault her with wooden sticks, inflicting fatal injuries to her head and neck. They then broke open a storage cupboard inside the house to steal gold jewellery and valuables before fleeing. Download the TOI App.
