Hubballi : Hubballi Town police on Sunday registered an FIR against unidentified miscreants following a brief commotion during a Ganesh procession near Maratha Galli late on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 9.30pm when processions from Medar Oni and Kalal Oni converged on the stretch leading from Maratha Galli towards CBT, according to police. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace those responsible for the commotion.
Police commissioner Bhushan Borase told TOI that officers used minimal force and carried out a brief lathi charge to disperse the unruly crowd. During the celebrations, four to five youths dancing in front of the Kalal Oni Ganpati DJ allegedly got into a scuffle among themselves, creating panic in the crowd. The youths reportedly pushed women devotees while fighting, triggering a tense situation in the area. Police personnel deployed along the procession route intervened immediately to prevent the situation from escalating. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified individuals involved in the disturbance.
