Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi city police commissioner Sharanappa SD announced the arrest of a notorious thief in connection with four house burglary cases reported within the limits of the city’s Station Bazaar police station, and recovery of gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 13.4 lakh from him.
The top cop told reporters on Wednesday that Mohammad Mujahid alias Javed, 32, son of Mohammad Jafar, a resident of Hyderabad in Telangana , is the accused. Jewellery worth Rs 13.4 lakh was seized, and the accused was remanded to judicial custody. Shivaraj Avanti, a resident of Ambikar Nagar behind Jeevan Prakash School on Old Jewargi Road, filed a complaint at Station Bazaar police station stating that thieves had broken into his house and stole gold ornaments and cash, resulting in a total loss of Rs 66,000. Officials stated that gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 13.4 lakh, comprising 85 grams of gold jewellery valued at Rs 12.8 lakh and 260 grams of silver jewellery valued at Rs 65,000, was seized from the accused.
Based on the complaint, a team was formed to trace the accused. Upon interrogation, Javed admitted to committing four house burglaries in Station Bazaar police limits.
