Koppal : Sources at Gavimutt have dismissed social media rumours that Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji has declined the invitation to inaugurate the state festival, Mysuru Dasara , asserting that the seer will inaugurate the event as announced.
“Claims circulating on social media that Swamiji has refused to inaugurate Dasara are not true,” mutt sources said. Sources said Gavimutt invites dignitaries from across the state to its annual fair and described the selection of a personality from Koppal to inaugurate the state festival as a matter of pride. There should be no doubt about it,” they said. He said Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji had accepted the invitation and that the chief minister made the official announcement only after receiving the seer’s consent.
They pointed out that no official statement has been issued by the mutt saying that he has declined the invitation. “Swamiji will happily inaugurate Dasara. Local MLA Raghavendra Hitnal also issued a clarification after the rumours surfaced. District minister Shivaraj Tangadagi urged people not to pay heed to speculation.
He said Swamiji would inaugurate Dasara and that the government would formally extend the invitation on Sept 28.
Meanwhile, Koppal SP Sahil Bagla said a suo motu case has been registered at Koppal Town police station against ‘Janata TV Digital’ for allegedly spreading false information on social media claiming that Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji had rejected the invitation.
