Stating that the recruitment process for 70,000 government posts had begun, Kharge said nearly 35 lakh candidates were appearing for various examinations, making it the government’s responsibility to protect their interests and ensure a fair process. Kharge recalled that he had introduced a private member’s bill to curb examination malpractices while in the Opposition.

Kalaburagi : Karnataka home, IT-BT and e-governance minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday said the state government would take stringent legal action against those involved in irregularities in KPSC examinations, irrespective of their influence or political affiliations.
Responding to a question on why only five taluks in Kalaburagi district had been declared drought-hit, Kharge said such declarations must conform to NDRF guidelines framed by the Centre. Kharge also said a high-level committee headed by R Hitendra, ADGP (Law and Order), had submitted a report on prison administration, security and reforms in Karnataka. He urged Opposition parties to raise the issue with the central government instead of staging protests in Kalaburagi. The recommendations would be discussed with the chief minister before implementation, he added.
