Udupi : As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s 25 consecutive years of public service, the BJP organised an ‘Angalada Utsava’ in Udupi. During the event, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna inaugurated a felicitation programme organised by the Udupi City BJP Mahila Morcha to honour teachers and helpers from 115 anganwadi centres within Udupi city limits.
Addressing the gathering, Suvarna said anganwadi teachers play a vital role in child nutrition, health, pre-primary education, and the care of pregnant and lactating women, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision. Recognising their service, he said he would appeal to the state government to extend to anganwadi teachers all benefits available to permanent government employees. Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said the bus stand, located on the Nanthoor-Kudupu national highway stretch, was previously in a dilapidated and unusable condition. He said the Morcha had renovated it through its own efforts as part of the campaign, setting an example of public service.
Udupi district BJP president Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, Udupi City BJP president Dinesh Amin, City BJP Mahila Morcha president Neetha Prabhu, and others were present. If the facility benefits commuters in the coming days, the objective of the Seva Sankalp initiative will be fulfilled, he added.
