Kalaburagi : Wadi police have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly 13 years in connection with robbery and theft cases registered within the Wadi police station limits.
The accused, identified as Muktum Shah Maheboob Shah Bavagola, 38, of Kadaburu village near Wadi in Chittapur taluk, is involved in four criminal cases, police said. He had secured bail from a court in 2013 but later jumped bail and remained on the run. Acting on credible information that Bavagola was living in Amrutahalli in Bengaluru, the team launched an operation and apprehended him.
To trace the accused, a special police team was constituted under the leadership of Wadi PSI Thirumalesh K. and Chittapur PSI Manjunatha Reddy, guided by Shahabad DySP Shankaragouda Patil and Chittapur CPI SC Patil. He was subsequently produced before a court. Police personnel Vinod Kumar, Rasool Khan, Azharuddin and Ayyanna were part of the operation. The district superintendent of police has commended the team for successfully tracking down and arresting the accused after more than a decade on the run.
