Damaged road edges on the way to Vyasanagara at KPT in Mangaluru

Residents said continued rainfall was washing away soil, widening the cavity beneath the road and increasing the possibility of vehicles slipping into the weakened portion. The cavity is spreading under the asphalt with each rain, and a vehicle can fall in at any time if safety measures aren’t put in place,” said Goutham, a local resident. Residents said they had initially brought the issue to the attention of local officials but faced delays in addressing the problem. We will examine the issue and resolve it as soon as possible,” said Latha HG, junior engineer, MCC.

The affected portion has been marked only with temporary sandbags, with residents pointing out the absence of proper barricades, reflective signs and warning lights. The danger is particularly concerning at night, when commuters may fail to notice the damaged stretch.
