MUMBAI: A 75-year-old man from Kerala died after suffering a heart attack while attending the CJP protest at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Friday evening. He had arrived at Shivaji Park around 4.30pm to witness the protest.
Police said Pillai, a Keralite, had come to Mumbai and was staying in Thane. Pillai succumbed to a heart attack while undergoing treatment at the hospital, police said. The deceased was identified as Gopalakrishna Subbaiya Pillai, a resident of Dosti West County, B Wing, Thane. Around 5pm, he complained of chest pain. With the assistance of his friend and police personnel deployed at the protest site, Pillai was taken to Sushrusha Hospital at Shivaji Park for treatment. Policemen at the spot tried to revive him with CPR, but their efforts failed.
On Friday, he travelled from Thane to Dadar to attend the protest.
