“Action will be taken by RBI Belapur regarding the proposal to increase Nashik’s current cash limit from Rs 6,000 crore to meet the heightened demand during the mega event,” Prasad said. “A special meeting of all banks will be organized under the initiative of the RBI on Friday to finalize the overall financial layout, including cash supply, ATMs, mobile ATMs, cash chests, and digital payment infrastructure,” he added. “State administration, district administration, RBI, and the banking sector are working in close coordination to ensure safe, simple, and seamless financial services for every devotee, tourist, trader, and resident during the event,” Prasad added.
During the meeting chaired by chief secretary Rajesh Aggarwal , Nashik collector Ayush Prasad presented the district’s requirements for strengthening banking and related infrastructure for the mega religious event. Senior officials from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), department of financial services, commercial banks and Nashik Lead District Manager Bhiva Lawate attended the meeting. To cater to this unprecedented turnout, mobile ATM vehicles will be deployed across parking grounds, Sadhugram, major river ghats, and congested sectors. Alongside cash management, the administration is pushing for wider adoption of digital banking. Point of Sale (POS) terminals will be distributed to small vendors, commercial establishments, and transport operators, while measures are being implemented to ensure smooth UPI transactions and resolve e-KYC bottlenecks. Additionally, the banking correspondent network will be expanded into remote and crowded zones with improved transaction limits and micro-credit capabilities. Download the TOI App.
Nashik : The state level bankers committee on Tuesday reviewed Nashik’s financial and banking requirements ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik-Trimbakeshwar, with the district administration seeking enhanced cash-handling limits to manage the expected surge in transactions.
