Nashik: A 33-year-old woman and her two young sons were found dead at their home in Ahilyanagar’s Deolali Pravara area on Monday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Vandana Gade, Chaitanya (9) and Jeevan (6).
“Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the deaths,” a police officer said. Their bodies were found hanging inside their home falling under the jurisdiction of Rahuri police station. Following a complaint lodged by the woman’s sister, Rahuri police have detained Vandana’s husband, Ganessh, in connection with the incident. As news spread in the area, the police arrived and the bodies were taken to the Rahuri rural hospital for post mortem. “Nobody’s name was mentioned in the note. She stated that her sister was tortured physically and mentally by her husband. We have detained Ganesh for inquiry,” the officer added.
Around 6pm on Monday, Ganesh, who works at construction sites, reached home and found his wife and two children hanging. However, on Tuesday, Vandana’s sister registered a complaint with the police.
“We found a small note in the house which said that she was ending her life along with the children as she was being harassed by her family members,” the officer said.
