Nashik: Nandurbar district is hurtling towards a severe monsoon crisis, recording just 340.7mm rainfall against the normal 728.4mm expected since June, leaving the northern tribal district with a staggering 53.2% rainfall deficit so far. Across Nashik division, which comprises Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Ahilyanagar districts, cumulative rainfall since June stands at 415mm against the normal 570.8mm, translating to 72.7% of the season’s expected precipitation so far. Dhule has performed the best, receiving 392.3mm rainfall, or 89.9% of normal, followed by Jalgaon at 83.3% (434.1mm), Ahilyanagar at 80.7% (254.8mm) and Nashik at 79% (607.4mm). Among the division’s 52 talukas, Akole in Ahilyanagar emerged at the top with 568.5mm rainfall, or 152.2% of its seasonal normal. Nashik’s Niphad recorded 136% of normal rainfall, while Dindori received 122% of its expected precipitation. At the other end of the spectrum, Nandurbar’s Akrani taluka ranks last in the division, having received only 34.7% of its normal 730.9mm rainfall. Rahuri in Ahilyanagar follows with 37.1% (110.1mm), while Taloda in Nandurbar stands third from the bottom at 38.5%, having recorded just 257.7mm rainfall.
