Amravati: Maharashtra revenue minister and Amravati guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule will hold a workers’ rally at Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskritik Bhavan today to galvanise Mahayuti workers for the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency election.
The rally assumes significance as the local BJP cadre has largely stayed away from campaigning for Mahayuti candidate and sitting MLC Kiran Sarnaik of Shiv Sena ( Eknath Shinde faction).
The meeting, scheduled for 1 pm, is expected to be attended by functionaries of all constituents of Mahayuti. As per party sources, BJP local functionaries are upset, alleging that Shiv Sena has sidelined them from the campaign. They are fretting and fuming over not being assigned any responsibility or work in the election management. The discontent within the alliance has slowed down campaigning in the division, which comprises five districts. With polling approaching, the BJP leadership is keen to put up a united show. It remains to be seen how Bawankule, who is known for his organisational skills, pacifies the frustrated local cadre and brings unity among Mahayuti constituents for smooth and effective campaigning for Sarnaik. CM Fadnavis, and deputy chief ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar will be present via video conferencing. Download the TOI App.
