Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Alleging that Union govt has failed to honour commitments made to young protesters on July 25, Cockroach Janta Party on Monday announced a peaceful youth march from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters on Sept 5, coinciding with Teachers’ Day.
The party alleged govt had delayed action on commitments made on July 25, hidden behind technicalities and avoided giving clear assurances on issues raised before the Supreme Court . “On 25 July, solemn promises were made publicly at a joint press conference. The Supreme Court had sought a consolidated list of FIRs registered across the country so that they could be considered together for possible quashing, but govt had yet to provide a clear commitment, according to the CJP.
The young generation trusted those promises,” CJP said, alleging that govt was committing ‘vishwasghaat (betrayal)’ against Gen-Z and families who had lost their children. Appealing for participation in the march, the party said, “The families who lost their children will walk in the front.
CJP, in a press release, said the march would be led by families of deceased NEET aspirants and alleged victims of police brutality, with students and youth from across the country expected to participate. Victims of police brutality will walk with them. And behind them will walk a generation demanding only one thing from its govt: KEEP YOUR WORD.”
CJP also claimed that a written assurance promised earlier was still awaited.
