“While crop harvesting experiments for early crops are currently underway and slated for completion by the end of Sept, official data reveals that only 30% to 40% of farmers in Nashik district have purchased crop insurance.
“Despite light rainfall in parts of the district over the last two days and a yellow alert issued for the next three days, agricultural experts and officials warn that the dry period of more than three weeks has already caused irreversible damage to standing crops,” Bhuse said. Assistance will not remain limited only to those farmers who have taken crop insurance,” Bhuse said, emphasising the govt’s stance. “The administration will stand firmly behind affected farmers without waiting for technical regulations. ”
The minister chaired an emergency review meeting with the district collector, district agricultural officers, and representatives from crop insurance companies to assess taluka-wise rainfall data, crop conditions, and potential financial losses.
